– Final compositionNames of key people in TRAN and ENVI Committees

 

Final composition 

The final results of the elections of the European Parliament can be summarised as follows per political group: 

-       Christian-Democrats/Conservatives (EPP) – 265 members

 -       Socialists (S&D) – 184 members -       Liberals (ALDE) – 84 members

-       Greens/European Free Alliance (Greens) – 55 members

-       European Conservatives and Reformists (ECP) – 54 members

-       European Left/Nordic Green Left (GUE/NGL) – 35 members

-       Europe of Freedom and Democracy (EFD) – 32 members

-       Non-attached – 27 members 

In sum, the elections have delivered a majority for the centre right parties grouped together as the European People’s Party. Mr. Buzek (Poland) has been appointed as President of the new European Parliament for a period of 2,5 years.

  Names of key people in TRAN and ENVI Committees 

The names of the coordinators of the two parliamentary committees with which ECSA (members) will have to deal most of the time are as follows:

 -       Transport Committee (TRAN) 

·        Chairman Brian Simpson (S&D). He will be chairman for 5 years.

·        Vice-Chairmen: Dominique Riquet (EPP, France), Peter van Dalen (ECR, Netherlands), Silvia-Adriana Tičau (S&D, Roumania) and Dieter-Lebrecht Koch (EPP, Germany).

·        Coordinators are Matthieu Grosch (EPP), Saïd el Khadraoui (S&D), Dirk Sterckx (ALDE) and Michael Cramer (Greens). 

 

 -       Environment Committee (ENVI) 

·        Chairman: Jo Leinen (S&D)

·        Vice Chairmen are Corinne Lepage (ALDE), Carl Schlyter (Greens), Boguslaw Sonik (EPP) and Dan Jorgensen (S&D).

·        Coordinators are Richard Seeber AND Peter Liese (both EPP), Linda McAvan (S&D), Chris Davies (ALDE), Satu Hassi (Greens), Miroslav Ouzky (ECP), Kartika Liotard (GUE/NGL) and Anna Rosbach (EFD).
